The Cosmic Microwave Background for a Nearly Flat Compact Hyperbolic Universe
نویسنده
چکیده
The fluctuations of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) are investigated for a hyperbolic universe with finite volume. Four-component models with radiation, matter, vacuum energy, and an extra dark energy component, which is a particular version of quintessence, are considered. The general solution of the Friedmann equation for the cosmic scale factor a(η) is given for the four-component models in terms of the Weierstrass P -function. The angular power spectra Cl of the CMB anisotropy are computed for nearly flat models with Ωtot 6 0.95. It is shown that the particular compact fundamental cell, which is considered in this paper, leads to a suppression in Cl for l . 10 and Ωtot . 0.9.

COBE Constraints on a Compact Toroidal Low-density Universe
In this paper, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy in a multiply-connected compact flat 3-torus model with the cosmological constant is investigated. Using the COBE-DMR 4-year data, a full Bayesian analysis revealed that the constraint on the topology of the flat 3-torus model with low-matter-density is less stringent. As in compact hyperbolic models, the large-angle temperature fl...
متن کاملTemperature Correlations in a Compact Hyperbolic Universe
The effect of a non-trivial topology on the temperature correlations on the cosmic microwave background (CMB) in a small compact hyperbolic universe with volume comparable to the cube of the curvature radius is investigated. Because the bulk of large-angular CMB fluctuations is produced at the late epoch in low Ω0 models, the effect of a long wavelength cut-off due to the periodic structure doe...
متن کاملDetecting Topology in a Nearly Flat Hyperbolic Universe
Cosmic microwave background data shows the observable universe to be nearly flat, but leaves open the question of whether it is simply or multiply connected. Several authors have investigated whether the topology of a multiply connect hyperbolic universe would be detectable when 0.9 < Ω < 1. However, the possibility of detecting a given topology varies depending on the location of the observer ...
متن کاملA small universe after all?
Measurements of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) provide a powerful probe of the geometry and topology of the universe. The geometry of the universe is reflected in the height, position and spacing of acoustic peaks in the CMBR angular power spectrum [1], while the topology of the universe is betrayed by matched circles in the microwave sky [2,3]. The topology of the universe al...
متن کاملPossible Relics from New Physics in the Early Universe: Inflation, the Cosmic Microwave Background, and Particle Dark Matter
I review two different connections between particle theory and early-Universe cosmology: (1) Cosmic-microwave-background (CMB) tests of inflation and (2) particle dark matter. The inflationary predictions of a flat Universe and a nearly scale-invariant spectrum of primordial density perturbations will be tested precisely with forthcoming maps of the CMB temperature. A stochastic gravitational-w...
